Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

With our energy costs rising so rapidly we are all looking for ways to keep our cost and consumption of energy as low as possible.  Switching to compact fluorescent bulbs is the fastest and least expensive way to lower your energy costs.  The incandescent equivalent light output of a compact fluorescent bulb is approximately 4-5 times the wattage.  If you want to replace 100 watt incandescent light bulbs you would buy 20 to 27 watt compact fluorescent bulbs.  Compact fluorescent bulbs also last up to 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

Color temperature describes how the compact fluorescent bulb itself appears when lit.  Color temperatures are measured in "Kelvins" ranging from 90K (considered "cool") down to 15K (considered "warm").  Light sources lie somewhere between the two.  You can use the chart below as a color guide.
